About the Project

This project is following the approved planning process for a Group ‘B’ project in accordance with the Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) for Provincial Transportation Facilities and Municipal Expressways (2024). For more information about the Class EA process, please refer to the Class EA page of this website.

This interchange study will build upon the 2015 approved Municipal Class EA Study, which included a proposed interchange at Highway 401.

The purpose of the study is to identify a Recommended Plan for the Highway 401 interchange that addresses current and future transportation needs in the study area as part of the Ministry’s ongoing review of safety and operational needs for the provincial highway network. The project will identify and develop a plan for a new interchange to connect Highway 401 to the future planned Lauzon Parkway.

The study also includes:

  • Developing and evaluating alternatives
  • Identifying appropriate improvements
  • Determining potential impacts
  • Outlining environmental protection/mitigation measures

A Recommended Plan will be confirmed at the completion of the study.
